This striking building in the Mariental main street had to make a statement about the revitalisation of the whole town. The unusual looks were created by using circular glazed blocks still made in Windhoek from the original 1950’s patterns combined with large roof overhangs and various textures of materials. An exterior veranda on the street shades the building while interior courtyards and clerestorey windows illuminate the interior. Again, low-budget project with very creative and unusual results.
